This eggy bread, made with our Chocolate Milk, is the kind of treat made for slow weekends – best enjoyed with great coffee and the people you love most.
Serves 4
Ingredients:
8 thick slices of bread
4 large eggs
300ml Chocolate Milk
100ml Unhomogenised Whole Milk
2 tbsp caster sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Butter (for frying)
Topping suggestions:
Icing sugar
Fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries)
Sliced banana
Maple syrup or golden syrup
Whipped cream
Chocolate chips or spread
Method:
• To make the custard mix, whisk together the eggs, chocolate milk, whole milk, sugar, vanilla and salt in a large bowl until smooth.
• Dip each slice into the mixture for about 10–15 seconds per side. Make sure it’s soaked but not falling apart.
• Heat the pan over medium heat and melt a knob of butter. Fry each slice for about 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and slightly crisp on the outside.
• Dust with icing sugar and add your favourite toppings
Top Tips
• Slightly stale bread works best—it soaks up more flavour without going soggy.
• Add a pinch of salt flakes on top for a sweet-salty balance.
